Action Research Week 2

This week I have learned to formulate an action research topic but understand that more questions will come up the deeper I get into the data. Watching the three interviews helped me to better understand the role of upper administration and their craving to help positively change the way teachers deliver instruction. The understanding that effective professional development is necessary to train teachers to disaggregate data and initiatives need to be practical in that school is imperative to the success of change. Through the reading, interview and reflective questioning assignments I feel better equipped to use action research to improve and facilitate change on my campus.

Use of Blogs by Educational Leaders

Educational leaders should use blogs as a research tool when evaluating their own action items. Tremendous amounts of quality information can be exchanged like the sharing of ideas, common problems, or identified pitfalls.

Action Research

Action research is a tool businesses have been using that has been adopted by the educational community. By design, action research, utilizes a districts most important resources, their employees, to continually rethink and redesign how they deliver information to students. Teachers take pride in being able to continually hone their skills without the influence of outsiders who do not know the local differences that are common from district to district.

I will use action research to constitenly improve myself and expand my knowledge in education that will help me become a better educator and eventually a good administrator. Action research by design that is done on the personal level is nothing more that self reflection with a desire to learn and improve by using a variety of resources.

In my future as an administrator I will use action research as a tool when seeking ways to improve my school. Teachers that have a say in the decision making process are more likely to accept a decision. I will use action research to identify instructional, budgetary, and parental involvement shortcomings to formalize a well researched plan that effectivly solves the problem. I beleive that a school that identifies the importance of action research is continually looking to improve their effectiveness.
